Imagine you don’t find adequate space to store your shoes in the living room or in any of the cupboard then the best alternate is in your hands. Create a rustic shoe rack for yourself with the bulk of pallet in your junkyard.
STEP 1: PALLET WOOD
Materials and tools required:
Sander with 60 and 150 grit paper
Wood stain (Tung Oil)
Look for the most appropriate pallet in your stock. If possible do it yourself otherwise get your pallets broken apart from a nearby carpenter.
Then instead of trying to get all the screws out remove what is possible and the rest hammered down.
Decide on the size as per the space you have before making a pallet.
STEP 2: CUTTING
Measured the space where you want your shoe stand to stay. Now saw that it such that it should be no more than the place where to be adjusted.
STEP 3: SANDING EVERYTHING!
Now use the sander to sand down all of the wood. Pay special attention to corners and round them off, to avoid sharp edges cutting into your shoes while putting them in rack and then removing them.
So after all edges are rounded lay it out and see how everything should look like at the final part.
STEP 4: PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER
Before putting everything together make sure about the height of the compartments to get your shoes fixed easily.
STEP 5: LET US STAIN
Tung Oil is the most appropriate to add some shimmer and shine.I have laying around. It gives depth to the wood itself and acts like a protective shield for the wood. After adding two coats of oil, wipe all the excess oil by any cloth and make it shine by buffing a little.
STEP 6: ALL DONE
Finally, the pallet mania has created an economic storage piece for you.
